6 Musts to protect yourself from Sunburn

A sunny day makes most people feel fine. Sunbathe gives a little relief from the usual life. But there’s a problem too. Sunbathe is a cause of sunburn too. And although people love sunbathing, they don’t like sunburn.

Sunburn is caused by overexposure to ultraviolet radiation. And to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can be a cause of skin cancer. But that doesn’t mean you have to avoid the sun utterly. A little bit of consciousness would be enough. Things to do to protect yourself from Sunburn:

Try to find shade

Avoid direct sunlight, especially between 10 AM to 4 PM. And when you are outdoor, busy in doing something, just try to find shade. Shade can limit exposure to UV. Be more careful when you are on the beach. Because sand and water reflect sunlight, and you get there more radiation. Though window glasses block some, avoid there spending a long time.

Choose UV-blocker foods

People do many things to protect from sunburn. But often they don’t notice that some foods are powerful UV-blocker. Foods like red and orange fruits and vegetables, dark chocolate, Cruciferous vegetables can make you a good fighter against UV, as these foods boost the skin’s ability to fight UV.

Wear sunscreen

The easiest way to protect yourself from sunburn is by wearing sunscreen. Instead of applying a thin coating use it correctly. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the sunscreen can reduce to half. Using waterproof sunscreen is recommended if you are swimming. And reapply it after swimming or sweating. Also, you need designer swimwear for women to protect against other issues.

Have a complete body scan

Talking to a dermatologist and having a full-body scan once a year is a good idea if you are really serious about sunburn. But whatever you do you must remember that: prevention is the most important lesson.

Check UV index

When you are planning to spend a long time under the sun, just check the UV index before heading outside. If you find the index reading 8 to 11+ you need extra protection. You should not go outside without protective clothing and sunscreen.

Cover more

Though covering up doesn’t block all the harmful rays, you should choose clothing that covers more of your body. And instead of wearing light colors wear dark ones when you are out in the sun. Pick a hat that has a brim at least 2 inches. And for eyes use sunglasses that block UV rays. An ideal sunglass should be capable of blocking the UV completely.
